top gear…my top choice!

i think one of the most surprising things about me is that i love watching a show called top gear.  whenever i tell someone i watch it religiously they always give me a weird look and ask me why.  i wish i could tell them why i like it because i could really care less about cars; and indeed, i can’t tell you anything about cars or what horsepower is or what that switch on the left hand side of your steetop-gear-hosts1ring wheel does. however, ever since i’ve been living in hong kong, my tastes have changed.  i first discovered this show on bbc entertainment and i was quickly encapsulated in the how they shoot/film the cars and their investigative stories, if you can call them that.  i particularly love their specials where they go somewhere remote and complete tasks in their chosen cars.  they’ve been to the vietnam, africa, boliva, hillbilly land and even the arctic. it is in these specials that you discover how crass, racist and ignorant they are.  no matter how much you may disagree with them you can’t help but keep watching. i mean where can you watch cars play soccer? a ford focus driving in a mall? or seeing people make amphibious cars? or have races against a bullet-train, airplane, boat…oh my!  so as you can see, this is a far cry from my obsession with martha stewart and homemaking, but even martha has her quarks…she likes insider trading so i can like top gear (i know that was a weird comparison). strangely i thought my dad would like this show cause it is a pretty manly show, but he could care less about it.  he actually changed the channel on me! so i have to find some other thing in common with him to bond over. i’m trying to put off drinking beer as the last resort! wait, i bet most guys watch this show while drinking beer…wow. i drink a g&t…i really can’t stand the taste of beer. oh well…a g&t is a very british drink so there you have it! later days!

soudas my ass

so i often watch canadian news here in hong kong on the web and i find it so much more interesting now.  there shouldn’t be any surprise since have we have a minority government.  the main problem i have with this government, other than the fact that it is a conservative government, is that the prime minister is never there.  i mean how often to you actually see him in parliament or in public?  sure, he has to travel a lot but still.  so in place of him, he has dimitri soudas.  this guy isparliamentofcanada something else! he is the official spokesman of the PMO and he can speak…but coherently?  no.  the guy keeps repeating himself and doesn’t answer the question.  has anyone seen him in an interview (ie. anything about the prorogation or the environment)?  he looks like jessica simpson reading her lines in her last movie.  its like pulling teeth and it is painful to watch because you never get any coherent answers. okay i can understand politicians dodging questions by not answering them but some of them actually do a good job of it…not this guy.  harper’s not any better but at least harper distracts you with his roadkill/toupe like hair…i really hope it is a toupe cause it isn’t human! well, the upside is that it appears harper’s hair has more personality than him…so i guess he should keep that thing. soudas barely has any hair to distract you with so he needs to improve on this or just move along…and get hair implants or shave a bit of harper’s hair and make his own toupe! later days!

妻子的誘惑…cruel temptations

i have been ‘chasing’ this drama for over a month now, and i am now hooked.  the beginning was very slow and it dragged…liked dragged.  however, i continued to watch this drama because i knew the premise and it intrigued me.  the premise sounds familiar but i just wanted to see how it played out.  well, the wait was well worth it because revenge is sweet! the28_8_66250_172_230_20090302180557 storyline is quite complicated but it is basically about a married couple who consists of a humble wife and a womanizing husband with a family who takes advantage of the wife.  well,  the husband had something going on between himself and the wife’s best friend five years ago and a child was born as a result of the affair.  the mistress returns to steal the husband away and drives the wife away…and eventually into the ocean (dragged by the husband) while pregnant.  now, everyone thinks she’s dead…but she was rescued by this other guy who actually knows the husband at work (but he didn’t know she was the wife of his boss). and then the fun began cause she starts to plot his downfall…actually both the mistress and the adulterer.  i’m only half way into this drama but it can only get better.  wow…do not piss off a woman..cause you will pay! but if i were you i wouldn’t start watching the drama until the 25th episode cause the first part is about how the in-laws treat their daughter-in-law…well i am pretty sure you can all guess how that turned out. later days!

my new computer…don’t hate

i just wanted to tell you all that i got a new computer.  i had a very hard time tryingTS-default_1920x1080 to find or even pick a new computer cause there were so many to choose from.  however, i really only had a few choices cause i wanted one with the touch screen ability.  that only left me with two choices…sony or hp. i know! the choice seems obvious…or is it? my choice may surprise a lot of people since sony seems to be the right choice and i thought so too.  however, i eventually chose hp because of one simple reason.  this was sony’s first touch screen all-in-one computer, whereas hp has had four generations in this field.  the applications seemed to be more user friendly and there was something about how the sony computer looked.  there was something weird about it…it was very angular and the hp touchsmart 600 had a more appealing look to it.  plus the keyboard felt more comfortable for me.  so in the end i painstakingly chose the hp.  so far i’m not regretting it but for some reason i think i will in a few months…lol.  okay, now i am ready for all the backlash and hate mail…bring it on!

welcome to my blog!

I've never really blogged before and it does seem a bit intimidating. The purpose of this blog is to let my thoughts flow and give myself an outlet. Plus, everyone seems to be doing it...so why not? Okay now I'm just lost for words...ugh...lol. Actually something happened today which pissed me off. Living in Hong Kong has its advantages and unfortunately it also has its disadvantages such as the people. After living here for more than four years, I have come to notice that people here are quite inconsiderate. I've been able to observe the everyday people and it would appear that people here either walk really slow or really fast. I will admit that I am someone who walks fast and will cut people off, but mainly those who walk slow.

I've noticed that those who walk slow are either females, females who walk with other females or females walking with their boyfriends/husbands. Why do they walk so slow? I keep asking myself that question every time i am stuck behind someone. I mean i try to come up with a reasonable explanation to why they take forever putting one foot in front of another. When i look at them, they aren't fat, old or disabled so they don't have an excuse. I mean I can forgive those who do have those dispositions but not if they are able and young.

The trend tends to be younger females who walk slow...so maybe they cut physical education from schools? No, but really, people need to walk faster or at least walk at a humanly pace. I've seen the elderly walk faster than the younger generation! So that should be a good indicator that you're walking slow if you are being out-walked by a granny.

In addition, I blame those slow walkers for my impatience and my tendencies to walk fast. Now that I think of it, the problem maybe geographical because I can tell you that it isn't like that when you are at Causeway Bay or Central where people tend to walk faster. Maybe people in the suburbs walk slow and think slow since they can't be considerate of others who are in a hurry (please not even in a hurry but those who would like to get to their destinations on time). So in conclusion, if you are not old or disabled PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE AND WALK AT A GOOD DECENT PACE!
